w-inds. 2007 fan club event in zepp nagoya 2007.04.01

this concert report is lj cut for its insane length certain people that do not wish to be spoiled, and for extremely gratuitous abuse of fangirl speak and the capslock key. ^^;;

warning: we didn’t pay very much attention to keita. sorry. he sounded absolutely fantastic though. like… ageha good. srsly. first part probably won’t be quite as detailed… still recovering from the end. :x

for ease of reading for those that aren't used to talking to myself and pearljemz at the same time, it'll be color coded so you can somewhat keep who's saying what straight. we flailed like fourteen year old girls wrote it together, but she got tired of how slow i was writing and then when she finished (and a day later since we were both falling asleep on the laptop) i went back and added bits. i'll be in green and she'll be in blue. apologies in advance for the disjointedness and horrible grammar. ^^;

so we got to nagoya early from kyoto to make sure we didn’t get lost or anything. picked up goods with a bunch of people going to the afternoon show and then wandered around for a little bit. found a shopping arcade and did purikura, near some gazette cosplayers. ^^v talked to an adorable girl and her mom at the 7-11 who were also there for the concert and were awed at the fact we flew over here for the show. halffling, your shirts were huge hits (totally big hits!!!! *smoochies halffling*) i had several people looking at mine and actually pointing (jemz had her jacket on and was therefore a tad bit incognito. and i’m sure the neon blue hair was a bit more attention grabbing. but we’ll get to that part later.)



grabbed some food and huddled back up in the area our number was at since there were a small handful of peole starting to line up. and i was freezing because we jammed stuff in a locker to keep from having to deal with it on the inside so we spent the next two hours huddling together for warmth and watching stuff. still have ‘o’ stuck in my head. -_- yay for ipods, or something like that. :x

they started calling numbers and we were inside in like five minutes (yeah… the numbers were really good… in the low 300’s out of some ~1600). there was a big splooch of people in the middle so we went around and over to the right and got closer, with about 5 or 6 rows of people between us and the very very small stage.



before it started they showed a selection of bourbon gum ads, specifically the mi-chan (!!!!!!!!), kirei da (waterguns! !!!!!), and ghei pink suits ones. and trial ones where the whole place swooned at keita’s ‘irasshaimase’. ;[] spiffiness, especially after having watched all the ads on a tiny resolution mpg file before, seeing them on a several feet high screen was sweet. :D and then there was a little vtr showing the mega-mix radio version with footage from the pvs and different lives.

the stage was extremely small, and there were four huge circle things up in the back for lighgting and that was about it. you couldn’t see a band, but the background music sounded more like just instrumentals than a live band. *shrug*

on the way out of the hall they had a stand set up with cds and dvds for sale where i picked up the mega-mix (that was somehow not a first press, so i'll be picking up one from cdjapan if i don't see one when we go shopping later) and also received a nifty gift bag thingy with the cover for journey on one side and the mega-mix on the other. they were also handing out these spiffy spoon and fork sets that were rather heavy and nice.

ryohei: guh. very guh. guh=understatement. jeans, turquoise patterned hoodie (with bright pink lining on the hood, which statred out up so all you could really see was his mouth since his hair was in his face and guh.), black satiny jacket over that. OMG. He was so so so so GUH. GUH GUH GUH. I was a mass of happy fangirl that I got to see him in front of me. And he looks so much better in person than in pictures. *gushes* I totally flailed at Tabs when I saw him.
ryuichi: black beanie with a red tshirt and this pleather looking jacket with the hood up and then another jacket between that and the tshirt. *____________*
keita: something dark? with a tank top under it. sorry, we’re ryu/ryo fans. they were prettier. but he did open the jacket at one point with this little smirk and it was guh.

very shiny choreography and very good opener. best part happened to be when ryu and ryo removed the aforementioned jacket hoods… i swear, i know that doesn’t exactly sound very… but, yeah. ryo. smug. smirk. with these slow, deliberate... just… trust us. ponytail. omg. hesofine. *___________________________* sosososofine i so didn't even start vaguely paying attention to ryuichi til halfway through the first song because ryo was just that distractingly hot.

w-in. total w-in. they took the outer jackets off and ryu kept on his beanie. intro spoken line was said by keita. dancing was whoa shiny… especially when they had their hands up their shirts doing this interesting thing where they pushed them out… and… yeah. there was belly. *___*

ryu apparently likes hg. because he was encouraging everone to ‘fuuuuuu’ instead of scream. to which keita facepalmed and tried to discourage him, but we all know how well that works. so he just hid behind keita. And ryo just stood there, looking amused and his fine self. *_________* biased? me? Not at all. I really did look at keita and Ryuichi. in between staring at Ryohei and his lips and hair and uh...yeah. the mcs were really long and ryuichi pretty much took over on all of them and rambled. there were also a lot of moments over the course of the night where ryu would say something weird to make the audience go 'ehhh?' and then he'd just be like 'uso.... april fool!'. ryu introduced himself first and then keita tried to make ryo go next and sneak off to get water and ryo is like ‘you just wanted water! you go now!’. when keita was introducing himself ryu was standing behind him with the ^^vv hands going around in circles. then when ryo went, ryu and kei both tried to do the same thing to him but got caught. XD near the end ryu started going on about an a capella song and the lights went down. and the spot came on shortly after keita starts absolutely belting out some [probably famous and we have no earthly idea what it was but keita sounded *__* with his voice all deep, even if he was being a dork] song, making everyone burst out laughing. then ryu jumps in front of him, taking over the spotlight to yell ‘STOP!! STOP!!’ and all three pretty much cracked up. Major box smiles and giggles and omg HUGE BRIGHT SMILES ALL AROUND. They were so cute and dorky interacting with each other. It was so awesome to see that dynamic up close and in person. When I get home, I am going to go through every single dorky clip i have of them and just have a clip marathon with Tabs when she's in Denver and only a SINGLE time zone away instead of two. \:D/

dilemma
this would now be tabs' ghost typing now. she is dead. but good lord, death by bwa! is such an amazing way to go. Completely and utterly amazing. Or in Teej speak: ":O :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD XD >.> grannies being happy :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD" let's just say we have absolutely no doubts whatsoever as to whether ryu's grabby tendency is accidental or habitual placement. deliberate. gropage. for at least two bars of the song. omg. like... literally in front of our faces. close enough to see the seams of his jeans... is it considered a bad thing when ghosts need moments? ummm.... aside from the bwa! (as if that wasn't enough), keita sounded amazing and i already loved this song like whoa but daaaaamn. someone clearing their throat shouldn't be that sexy. and i ♥ ryo's speaking voice. I wholeheartedly second this statement. But then again, I pretty much adore everything about Ryohei. ^^; ryuichi by himself gets at least an r rating omg.

Had the cute “goodbye, don’t mind” with the cute accompanying wave by Ryuichi. Ryohei did his fantastic breakdancing and was so cool. And he slid back to the dancers as Ryuichi jumped over Ryohei to do his handstand as Keita stood higher on the stage, his hands in Ryo’s signature “vv” and a sinfully blissful "I have reached nirvana" look on his face a la Jidai, his mouth wide open and his body bopping to the beat as his hands lowered before him (still in the "vv"). Um, yeah. I was watching Keita. I admit this. I wasn’t watching Ryohei for once. My eyes were glued to his face mouth and hands bwa!. The song was good as usual but I still like some of their other live performances better and was expecting Keita’s booty dance to show up. D:

when they went off to change, they lowered the screen back down and showed a video that had been filmed prior to the tour starting. Really long. Really cute. Really fucking dorky. starts out with them at a track area with their dancers and these two guys dressed up in weird black spandex outfits and masks who seemed to be running things. at some point they all did YMCA except it was more 'WAI! EMU! SHEE! EHHHH!?' with these random human rocket-like movements on the 'EHHHH!?' part. also, after the vtr, the dancers didn't rejoin them back onstage until the encore. they were watching from the top level on the sides. XD
- First matchup: Ryu vs. Kei in the long jump. Ryu thought a broom might make him fly farther like Harry Potter but he’s not Seeker material. He stopped somewhere over 3meters. Barely. Then he did it again from the opposite end (since the host was telling him to jump the other way) and stopped at 6m, (they measured from the proper end.) Keita was up next and he ran for the sand and then did a bunny hop at land at 9m. (from the wrong end) but he won and they all screamed and yelled and picked up the host that told him to jump from that end and hoisted him up in the air while the other one pouted. Hard. XD
- Second matchup: all three in the 100m dash. Their dancers joined in on the fun wearing silly masks and glasses. They all raced to the finish line with Keita coming in second. Man, being a soccer fanatic helps with the addition of mile-long legs, putting him about split-second behind the winner (who we don’t really care about)
- Third matchup: 20 m handstand race. Ryu, Ryo, and another dancer. It was hilarious to see Ryu stick his legs straight up in the air and start walking on his hands, his belly showing. Mmm. Belly. Ryo had his legs folded over and was walking faster. Appparantly, ryo is not good with speeding his way across to the finish line and ryu beat him! Then he got to choose something.
- Fourth matchup: Ryu. How many consecutive standing flips can he do? Only 3. :O
- Fifth matchup: Ryo. How many times can he spin on his hands? 14 times. With his legs spread so they were horizontal to the ground and um yeah. I need a few moments. Maybe more.
- Fifth-and-a-half matchup: Ryu being challenged to beat Ryo! He flips down from his comfortable seat over on the high jump mat where he had been lounging in a very sexy sprawl. Then he runs over to challenge Ryo and gets started. He had a false start where he makes it up onto his hands, overbalances before even making it around once and then falls to the ground in a laughing heap. then indignantly jumps up going 'one more try!!!' and starts again. There was much BELLY shown. Much. And Boxers. If we were c-mart, we would’ve timed how long his belly was shown. Oh well. You get us drooling. ;-Q This time, he fell down after 2 or 3 and just stayed with his hands down, feet on the ground and ass firmly waving in the air.
- Sixth matchup: Kei/dancer vs.Ryu/dancer vs. 2 dancers: Which time can eat a pizza the fastest? You would think Keita would win this because where there’s food, there’s keita! So But Ryu/dancer won! Keita/dancer came in last with half a pizza left. The 2 dancers came in second with a single slice left. Ryohei was watching and cheering on his teammates in their effort to do their best in this game. Then you find out later as Keita pulls out something that Ryu/dancer cheated to win! Much laughter ensues as Ryuichi makes a funny face!

Ryohei: GUH. SO MUCH GUH. White shirt, unbuttoned on the bottom, white vest with black trim, left arm sleeve was rolled up to his elbow (mic arm), the other sleeve was loose, still had the ponytail, semi-dark blue jeans.
Ryuichi: semi-tight jeans, white shirt with a picture of jesus on the front (vaguely reminiscent of hyde's 'faith' album cover) , and a white zippered jacket.
Keita: dark blue jeans, dark grey shirt, off-white blazer.

Ryu comes out with his mic not working, hands it back to the stage hand, keita mocks him for having no mic, a stage hand comes out and gives him a working one which Ryu immediately starts testing and makes a silly face. All three came out with little “journey” planes with a personal message and signature on each one. Keita threw his into the crowd first with Ryuichi trying to distract him. Did it without the rubber band. It flew far into the back left of the hall. Kei’s mouth dropped open in surprise at how far it flew for a good 5 seconds. Ryohei was next and stood up higher on the stage. Used the rubber band to sling his all the way to back right. Made some fangirls very, very happy since they all said "OMEDETOU!" in a happy voice . Ryuichi was next and wanted his to go to the upper floor! Used rubber band to sling and made it to center middle, where it went up for half a second before spiraling down to Ryuichi’s open dismay. Ryo and Kei mocked him greatly. Ryu had stood frozen in his disbelief before giving a weak wave, a tiny bob of the head, and a barely heard "gomen!" to the top tier for not reaching them. He then tried to cover to say that it was for balance since Keita threw his in the left corner, ryo’s in the right corner. Much not believing Ryu is done. so he distracts them by showing everyone a slideshow. ryuichi likes photobooth. ryuichi likes photobooth a lot. so much so that he took goofy pictures of himself, ryohei, and the dancers and stretched/distorted them into cracktastic versions, thus getting the crowd intimate with Ryohei’s nose and sending the entire audience into gigglefits. my stomach was killing me from laughing so hard by the time the concert was over.

kawariyuku sora
Big huge smiles for this song. Bigger smiles for the song’s signature hands-on-shoulders move and lots of exchanged looks by ryoryu as Keita belted out the song so beautifully. it's so amazing seeing this one live; it's one of our favourites, and watching them perform it makes it so very obvious that it's also one of all three of theirs.

Still pretty and so much like the pv. Just more awesome to see live than on a pixelated screen. and the dancing doesn't look nearly as retarded. Harmonies were gorgeous as were all of their blissful expressions.

GREEN BOXERS. Um. Yeah. We flailed. Well, you would too if you saw them! The beautiful harmonies on this song. We both love this song. Ryohei grooving to the song with small popping motions and his eyes closed. Um. GUH. Yeah. No other words from us. Just GUH. Ryuichi was blissfully rocking side to side like he always does when he gets absorbed into the song. So awesome. And guh. Keita was just fabulous on this song. The emotion, the small glances between opening and closing his eyes. Yeah.

they start talking about computers and their respective blogs, then how popular ryohei's has gotten. to which ryohei responds by talking about ryu's popularity. to which ryu answers by saying that they're now rivals. [forgot to write this part down, but i'm 99% positive it was here. ^^;] then the whole popularity discussion turns to keita and they start teasing him about how he's so popular and an idol now he needs to do a docomo ad. keita: ^^;;;; and he had a light blush on his cute cheeks. He was so adorable because he was soooo embarrassed and then my love for Keita re-asserts itself with a vengeance and I sighed along with the other 2/3rds of the hall over him. then they start talking about the bourbon ads and ryu tries to get the audience to say 'BURUBON SUPAA HANANODO GUM!' as a toungue twister really fast which totally fails and he mocks us all by going 'BURUBON SUUPAA *MUMBLEMUMBLEMUMBLE*' which then turns into an impromptu japanese lesson by ryu of all people, wtf on the proper pitch changes to use when saying 'HA-NA-SUUUUU NO-DO-SUUUUU' complete with hand motions and everything.

okay, i'll admit when this one started my first reaction was a whiny 'why'd they pick thiiiiiis?? D:' but then keita started singing. and ryu and ryo were both totally grooving- ryo in those little head and hand motions and ryuichi leaning his entire body back and forth with his hair sweeping across his face. while gettin' down with his air guitar. \m/

then they said goodbye and thank you and kind of wandered off stage. cutely, of course. like ryu's 'bye ja~'! *____________* They were just so into the song, it was awesome.

Came out with silly outfits! TOTALLY RETARDED AND THE BEST EVER OMFG!! Ryohei had a striped polo with a thin striped tie, jeans, rainbow ‘fro wig, a mask (with goggly glasses underneath), and a pointer that had pink swirl on one end. Keita came out with a super thin grey sweater, a black tank underneath, jeans, a shark’s head around his head where his face was peeking through the sharks mouth, and a white something (i could have sworn it was a cat but jemz thinks it was a polar bear) plushie. Again, not really paying much attention since Ryuichi… Came out with Dragon Ball Z (Super Saiyan) hair, green mask, black t-shirt that said 'PICK ME! PICK ME! YEAH!' on the back *dead of lol*, and jeans. They were all jumping around and waving things. there was so much insanity going on onstage between the boys and the dancers (who were also wearing weird stuff) it was extremely difficult to keep track of everything going on. not to mention, at that distance, it's also difficult to keep more than two of them in sight. so.... highlights? Ryuichi trying to do a kamehamea at the crowd and when it didn’t work, he looked at his hands with a pout and a “wtf?” look on his face. Tries again at Ryohei. Who just pointed his pink tipped thing at him and a smirk. I totally expected to hear “EXPECTO PATRONUM” at this point but I don’t think Ryohei was reading up on the latest news of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Keita had the plushie and stood in front of us for a good few minutes and stared at the crowd as we waved our lightsticks and uchiwa. ^^ he saw and smiled at us (after staring at Tabris’ blue bangs for over half the show! Well…that’s what we want to think but he did glance over a lot and we were only 5 people deep. So close enough to see sweat roll down that boy’s fine, fine body. Umm. Yeah. Need a moment. XD or two!). OMG. WE WERE SO HAPPY. *FLAILS* WE RECEIVED THE BOX GRIN OF D00M. pictures do not even come close to doing that smile justice. We can die happy now, right? Keita was just bouncing around and so MUCH CRACK. We cannot tell you JUST HOW MUCH AWESOME CRACK THERE WAS. If anything tells you about their performance of this song, just think of all the dorky things why you love w-inds. and multiply by 23957195871847519387413284214. XD;;; Ryuichi came over and stared at Tabris for a good 5 seconds (and the uchiwa I was holding!). at which point i was trying very very hard not to pass out from the sheer shock. Ryuichi staring at Tabris again with his hips gyrating from side to side. Um. Yeah. I was feelin’ the heat and it wasn’t even directed at me! it... is going to take me months to recover... if not longer...

i... can't remember any of the details for what they talked about during this mc. it was much shorter and they all took their wigs/headpieces off at some point, ryohei last (no boy should ever look that good in a rainbow 'fro wig... it's slightly disturbing). He took it off after a minute when he went to go and get some water. Yes, i was watching the entire time. :-P

feel the fate
EVEN MORE CRACK ENSUES! MUAHAHAHAH!! i was unsure if that was possible, but they definitely provided. Ryohei thrusting his chest out at Ryuichi! Ryuichi thrusting his chest back out at Ryohei. And then they did this competition thingy and started putting the move into dance in unison and yeah. dorks but they were utterly hilarious!!!! Then they were thrusting their chest at the audience on Ryohei's side of the stage and more screaming ensued while Keita was pointing the pink-tipped wand at our side of the crowd and looking straight at us (Tabs' blue bangs FTW!!!! elise_maxwell's uchiwa FTW!!!!!!!) and we were just screaming and singing our heads off with huge smiles. and mimicking him with the "vv" hands the entire time. ryuichi showing his ass as usual and ryohei poking him with his pointer thingy (that he got from a stage hand on our side of the stage. it was brown tipped and it was hilarious because Ryo has an unepected sense of potty humor and pointing it at Ryu's bubble butt.). ryuichi literally bouncing and spinning all over the stage. keita and ryuichi getting into a battle of strenth where ryu starts doing pushups. keita, narcissistic competitive dork that he is, goes to challenge him, pauses, then takes off the long sleeved shirt he had on over his snug black tank top revealing incredibly yummy arms and lickable collarbones. not to be outdone, ryuichi stands and strips off his shirt with one hand to bare his nicely muscled chest and abs. Umm…we need a few moments, thus causing death #54754365436 of the night. ryohei, competitive but more conservative, starts doing one armed pushups while still holding on to his mic with the hand behind his back. Yeah. I was still flailing over that but more over nekkid!ryuichi chest. *licks* You know when we thought we died earlier? This is where we DIED with our mouths open and full of shock, awe, giddiness, and all that good stuff. RYUICHI WITH HIS SHIRT OFF FOR THE REST OF THE SHOW. which somehow made him putting the dbz wig back on even funnier and zomg craaaaaaaack.

the eeeeeend! T_____T ;____; i We love these boys so much. ryu being goofy and keita smacking him in the bare belly making him emit this adorable noise somewhere between an 'oof!' and a squeak. :3 then standing close enough over to see black undies (boxer briefs, maybe? ;9) before they walked off, they were standing and talking a bit, thanking everyone again while the mega-mix played in the background. the entire hall started singing forever memories in unison which was awesome... and then it got to the 'miteita' part (keita's really high note) and ryu makes this screamingly funny strained face while he mouths along to each syllable, causing keita to pout and then keita and ryohei burst out laughing when he did it a second time. Ryohei waving to the crowd as he left last and stuttered, having forgotten what he was going to say and ended up saying “Ja na!” with a cute smile and a small wave as he spun around to leave.

the closing vtr was a montage of clips from the offshoot of the earlier vtr along with random stuff and credits. much adorableness and squishiness... then the lights came up and it was all over. ;~;


general impressions~
there was so much energy at this show, so much more than thanks. even though it was an extremely short set list without any solos *grumble*, the fact that they did several of my favourite songs that i never thought i'd get to hear/see live and the intimacy of the small venue (and being that freaking close to the stage) more than made up for anything i might have even considered whining about. i loved thanks, every show i went to was awesome, but this... this was just incredible. i can't close my eyes without remembering something *cough*philosophy*cough* and having it play itself over and over in my mind. i'm beyond happy and thankful i was able to go. just... wow.

This was such a fantastic show to go to. No other event will be as memorable as this one. It was my first w-inds. event, my first time in Japan, my first time seeing the boys live, and my infinite time falling for the boys. Although they didn't do any solos, just their interaction on stage (whether in song or during the mcs) was just heartwarming and fun to see. I originally fell for them because of their goofy interactions and just seeing their chemistry on stage is just awesome. I sound like a total teeny bopper fangirl but I enjoy their chemistry an how they relate to each other. Their bond is nearly visible, it's so strong. And their joy in performing is palpable. It was just so amazing to watch. They get so high off the crowd's energy and off of performing in front of people. I know they've said that they loved doing the concerts the most and it shows. And I am SO UTTERLY HAPPY that they did some of my favorite B-sides ever. I can't wait until Friday for the next w-inds. event.

And I think that Ryuichi has now officially taken over the #2 spot for me due to this concert alone. Sorry, Keita. I still love you lots though.
