boogie woogie 66
full review behind the cut.... I WILL TRY TO HOLD BACK ON THE CAPSLOCK, BUT IT WILL BE DIFFICULT. OKAY?
so i went up to the venue around noon or so to see if they had the goods out yet. they didn't but there were already 20 or so girls sitting in line outside. went to the internet cafe thingy and checked my mail, wandered around sannomiya center street for a while (and picked up a couple magazines) and then went back up to the hall. still no goods, but more people. went back and sat in the room for a while and waited on
kenaressa to get in, met up with her and then headed back up there. line was 43634254321532 times bigger. x.x stood at the end and got to be one of the last groups going into the goods area. by the time we got up there the flags were sold out, but they had everything else. well, the poor girl looked a bit panicked at my list of stuff for you guys, and apparently my handwritten '6' looks like a '4', so i have to go back up early tomorrow to get two more pamphlets (which are a whole other 'guh' unto themselves) and hope they have the flag. got our stuff and went back to the hotel and got cleaned up. looked through the pamphlet and the vacanza book. *_* then headed out.
got to be seated in one of the first groups since we had fc reserve seats. which, was especially lucky since the show was sold out. ^^v 3rd level, second row. which sounds bad, but since it was a really really really tiny hall they were actually good. clear and shiny view. though since they were kinda high up, keita's square smile was more of a rectangle, but we got the idea. ;[]
sitting there observing the fangirliness around us. and we seem to have ended up in a ryuichi fangirl zone. XDD no complaints. suddenly...
lights out. THOUSANDS OF FANGIRLS SCREAMING AT ONCE OMG. *jumps two feet in the air*
enter an odd destroyed world theme video on the screen, futuristic something (we couldn't see the top third of the screen from the angle we were standing at). countdown. san. ni. ichi....
(i shit you not, it scrolled across the stage lights like that. x.x)

and then w-inds. comes up from under the stage in these little escape pod looking things and pops out in shiny lamé outfits of asofyet indeterminate color (we think they were silver with gold, but might have been red with the lights... ^^;). ryu had his hair pulled back in a tight ponytail (like pol), ryo still had the blond growing out, keita the light short cut he's had lately. the song itself is a bit repetitive, but with the shiny dancing and loud mass of screaming, it was a good opener. and then it got louder with...
it's in the stars
omg. backup dancers. helmets. bahahahaha. like the robot(?)thingys in the pv. sounded awesome, keita was dead on all night. dance was on, etc. we've seen it performed before.
midnight venus
another repetetive song, but i was seriously impressed by how it was performed live (especially considering i usually skip it on the album). bouncy and upbeat and super dancy. keita sticking the mic out to the crowd on the 'i will goserching searching for you' parts.
costume change
now into the white jackets
trial
sounded much better than the few tv lives we've seen. no other real stand out moments. *cough* busy appreciating nice arms >_>
yakusoku no kakera (single version)
no acoustic version, not sure what's been done at the other shows. again, no other real stand out points.
mc
short-ish. generally just saying hi.... 'minna genki desukaaaaaaaaaaaa?'. and keita's 'konnichi wa- ah! konban wa *sheepish grin*' and ryohei and ryuichi's 'O__o;' in response.
balance
sounded good, but not particularly outstanding. i'd rather have heard light. ;_;
kazauta
another one i usually skip on itunes. but whoa. keita walks a fiiiiine line between breaking your heart and making you want to pat him on the head and say 'cheer up emo kid'. harmonies on it were tight and the whole thing was all sorts of gorgeous.
costume change
camo pants, black shirts (ryu/ryo w/grey, kei w/gold), leather. trenchcoats. *dead*
hush

okay, could barely hear ryuichi whispering the beginning as they were coming out because of the poofs of fire and the omgyelling because of the total hotness on stage (not meaning the fire). live version is a bit harsher on the guitars, much more rock than r&b sounding. ok, the both of us are just sitting here trying to write this going 'haaaaaaohmagawd and the keiryu and the dancing and the gaaaaaah and the coats and the shiny asdashdsahshtedshjrtsk'. complete sentences.... hell, complete thought is very difficult at the moment. so sound was great. keita has mastered the art of the not-quite-growly voice and the whispery parts were a bit hard to hear but mindmelting regardless. and then were completely broken by ryuichi draping himself all over keita at 'boku wa zurui' all 'mine.' and [reverts to keysmashing again].
*composes self and continues*
1 or 8
trenchcoats go away at this point. ;_; another one that sounded really good, also, like hush, one of my favourite tracks. sounded fantastic but after the dsdsgdsh that was hush, not a whole lot stood out. >_>;
sup wassup + dance break
aaaaalmost makes up for no stomp. almost. finally got something to feature ryuichi and ryohei, and boy did they. gah, especially the dance break. keita's dancing has gotten 476548554 times better. and, shock of all shocks, it wasn't the same dance he's been doing for the past five years. showed off his arms quite nicely, as well as his recently honed ability to shake his ass and it not look like he's auditioning for a jayz vid. *pats his head* ryohei was dead on as always, and much with the breaking. lots of freezes and spins, looks like he's been working on some harder stuff and pulling it off awesomely. very very cool dance break, from everyone, done like some sort of fight thing between sides. standing on the backs of dancers and keita aaaalmost falling off early cos he wasn't quite in the right place but hanging on to it nicely. ryuichi. backflip. wheeeeeeeee. that tease. (don't even get me started on going 'it's hooooot' during every mc and then untucking his shirt in the encore and then wiping his face and then saying 'it's hoooooot' again. just take the damn thing off, mk?) they all broke out the towels (a la fire flower) and were spinning them around and wiping their faces with them, and during keita's solo line ryuichi and ryohei are sitting on the edges with the dancers between them and keita who's sitting in the middle and ryuichi just pulls the towel completely over his head and is just sitting there like the dork he is. then they do the rest of the song and he's wiping his face and holding the lucky piece of material in front of his crotchwhen he's not grabbing it with the hand his mic is in which looked really wrong and there's more dancing and ryohei and keita eventually throw theirs into the audience and it gets to the end of the song. ryu goes to throw his and then swings his arm back at the very last second and it lands on the table behind him. on stage. -_-
mc / costume change
loooooong mc. starts out with them all talking, and then ryo and keita abandon ryuichi on stage. who it sounded like was whining about something (probably the outfits). so he stands and talks for a while, ryo and keita come back in the swirly suit... things. more talk. then he demonstated the pose from boogie woogie 66 (that we didn't know what it was from yet), and then left. talk with ryo and keita, and ryu comes back out in the short-ifying outfit. more talk ensues, keita whaps ryu for something. ryu retaliates and then goes after him. right as it's about to turn into a shoving match leader-san intervenes.bad leader.
sora kara oritekita shiroi hoshi
here ends the bitching about this being on the setlist. an older song, but with the way keita's voice has grown sounds amazing now. the slow chair dance was a plus as far as the visuals go. it's amazing how even when doing the exact same motions ryuichi manages to be ubergirly and ryohei is all manly. mindboggling, really. chairs went away near the end and they came back up under the stage withstripper poles mic stands. gaaaaah. keita has learned how to hit high notes without going off key. and does so. repeatedly. sdsjtsjdjrdjydjfdngfmfdbdshfdhdfhfdhgfh*n udges mic a couple inches away*dfsdhdshdshdshj.
izayoi no tsuki (single version)
no bondage pants. ;_; sounded great, better than on the ageha dvd. pretty body rolls. bad outfits. x.x
kageboushi
i was right. it is keita singing the descant part on kageboushi. *see above note concerning high notes* ryu was his normal wiggly self singing the harmonies. which were gorgeous. *___*
mc
ryuichi going on a long tirade about food (probably talking about kobe beef, but i missed the first part because of the yelling). ryohei and keita are all 'tabete nai' and ryuichi is all pitiful and 'dai sukiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii' is a silly voice over and over again.
shiki
a cappella intro. *has no idea how to spell a long string of blissed out sounds* ryu doing the lead-in lines. neat with the lighting changing color for each season.would have been better with the outfits from the pv.
kirei da
okay, i think during the mc someone spiked ryohei's water because around this point he was well on his way towards bouncing all over the place. wow. huge grin and having a blast. as much of a stair dance as possible with two stairs.
long road
ryohei even bouncier by now. and loud and clear and shiny on the rap. dancers come out with big versions of the tour flags waving them all over the place. then make a little tunnel thingy with keita behind it and raise them one by one as he comes through with ryu and ryo standing on their respective sides of the stage. and then there was them waving and going backstage.
encore
nifty little finish to the theme with a renewing of the destroyed world.a continiation of the 'save the world with shiny' from the stars pv? totally uncoordinated chanting by the audience. funky intro that i could have sworn was super lover and they come out in tour shirts for...
special thanx
all three super energetic, keita making windmill arms (see tightrope clip) to get the audience to sing the chorus. at one point ryohei is goofing off and hides behind one of the dancers. and then there is a very wrong pose with keita inbetween the others and just..... yeah. >_>;
super lover
super funky lover. veeeery odd remix, i liked the beat, but the vocal overlay was kinda strange. intro and then silence.... 'i need super lover tonight'. shdshtdshtrsdhrsdnrsngsngdngfsxn*ahem* more goofyness, ryu making a silly grr face at ryohei (with hands, see reference), ryo then proceeds to do the same thing to ryu, chasing him partway across the stage, then they both go after keita.
semishigure
good ending song... nothing particularly whoa.
everyone lines up and they do introductions, ryuichi having a mock fight with kenn on the way up, and then do the bow. at this point we were all expecting the lights to come up for it to be over.
but.
ryuichi (caps is engrish): WAIT! minna ga LUCKY! *japanese i don't understand* new single.... pv *more japanese*
audience: *SCREAMS REALLY LOUD*
some official guy: *something about turning off all the glowy things and not getting in the way of cameras*
everyone: *sits down amidst a quiet excited roar*
official guy: *comes back out and reminds everyone to take off the glowy things*
everyone: ...
everyone: *still waiting*
w-inds.: *comes out in shiny red trechcoats, black shirts (ryu's was ruffled, but i wasn't paying close enough attention to ryohei and keita. bite me.), suspenders, black hats (like ryohei's in ageha live) with white bands. ryu's hair down now and.. err... wavy? ish? not girlperm, it looked good, k? with dancers in (i think) black shirts, red pants, white suspenders hanging down.)
boogie woogie 66
have been without my laptop to download this so hearing this was a huuuuuuuuuge surprise. especially since it looks like the footage they took is going to be used for the pv. *flail* anyways. keita pseudo-rapping, very yummy. first part of the dancing wasn't quite as tight, but damn. the break in the middle. ryohei gets to show off his breaking again, and even more than earlier. then gets flipped over by the dancers as ryuichi goes underneath him for his own break. haven't seen any real dancing from ryuichi in a while, and it's obvious it's not because he can't. whoa. *_* much with the pulling the jackets (and suspenders) away and posing. flipping off the hats and some really fancy footwork at the end.
official guy: please wait. *more japanese i don't know*
and then they did it all again. *_* dancing a bit tighter this time, reshooting to get different camera angles. and then said bye, for real. but sdhsdsjdfjgfmghfnhfgdgfshgsdhdsfdsahfdsj djdfngfdfdshfdafhdfdmhgdfmhfdngfdhfdsh. they filmed. the new pv. tonight. and i was there. omfg. *dead*
so.... after attempting to recover from that, and then making our way outside. snagged a few stickers from the bootleg sellers, one of which is going on my car when i get home.
ohman.... this post just took me and
kenaressa almost four hours to write. brains broke. x.x and we get to do it all again tomorrow. *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*
